10 — Split Seconds & Second Chances
Session opened with a flashback to earlier in Weave's evening, as she shared her conflicted feelings about Thomas with Possum, before returning to the struggle between Weave and the sluagh in the alley. Weave tugged on the threads of Fate to avoid serious damage from the assassin's dagger, but was paralyzed by the elfshot poison. She was able to telepathically call her wolf to her defense and witnessed the unwelcome arrival of the reaper Howl, but lost consciousness before she could see Howl and the newly-named Price work together to kill the sluagh.
On Sunday evening, Lily Duval meets secretly with a divine avatar atop the Vancouver Lookout. The trickster shares her assessment of the Woven Band, and the awe-inspiring embodiment of Logic instructs her to proceed with their plan and extend invitations to the chosen ones.
The next morning, Weave woke up in Christine, which was parked in front of her apartment building. Her injuries had been healed by Howl, who had taken her rowan-berry tonic and all the cash in her wallet as payment. That same morning, Alexandra woke up to a strange voice message from Felix, and texted to arrange a get-together on campus to talk about it.
Thomas and Step both woke to find that they had no memory of how they got home to their own beds; both of their memories of the previous night ended as Dee pointed out the strange figure. Thomas determined that Dee had teleported them home, and found a tape cassette in his pocket and two clues in his notebook: "Grand Pacific Station, noon" and "B&K + 2 units". Step found a pamphlet for The Knowing stuck in their laptop, and saw that they were tracking a Greyhound bus on its way to Vancouver, which would arrive in Grand Pacific Station at noon. Dee was busy with finals, but confirmed that their memories were also missing via text.
The Woven Band planned to meet Ty's bus on arrival, and Step quickly brewed some stock in preparation. When Alex asked what she had missed, Weave learned that her curse affected texts when she was compelled to infodump everything that had happened to her since they last saw each other. Conspiracy's influence worked against the Woven Band as they made their way to the Station; they would have been late, but Step was able to scout ahead on their moped and give directions to avoid the Fate fuckery.
The Woven Band arrived at the Station and found that all the mortals in the area were compelled to clear out. They hurried towards the bus arrival wing and saw Ty sprinting towards them, pursued by Conspiracy's men in black, Keel and Barker. Keel called two false flag teams on her comm, and Barker isolated the station in a demiplane as combat kicked off.
Thomas tried to interpose himself between his sibling and the agents, but was a split second too late. As Ty was captured in a net, Thomas' scar throbbed with pain and his leg gave out. Step disabled the agents' comms, Thomas created a barrier from his prone position, and Alex rushed in to push the operatives back, giving Step space to free Ty and turn them invisible. Weave was momentarily tangled in a net, but shredded it with her whirlwind ability and disarmed the surrounding operatives. As Alex destroyed an entire team with a fiery charge, the remaining operatives dropped a smoke bomb to blind Weave, and tossed a flash grenade that would have stunned Thomas, if Step had not shielded him and taken the stun himself.
As Keel taunted Thomas and Barker drew his epic Glock on Step, Thomas understood the profound danger that they were all in. To save his family, he used his Ascendance Move to become untouchable and take action to choose the future that would come to pass. After gathering the Woven Band and taking Ty's hand, he grabbed the silver strand of fate that connected the Band to the clubhouse and transported them there instantly.
In the clubhouse, Ty introduced themself and apologized for putting everyone in danger, but the Band assured them that it was okay. Thomas assured their sibling that they could stay with him, and he apologized to them, saying that he should have done something so that they didn't have to save themself. Weave insisted that everyone take time to rest and relax after their big adventure, and a delighted Ty proposed a sleepover in the spindle clubhouse.
