Session 6

6 — Sirens & Slay

On Saturday night, Step's uncle Andy was dropped off by a sleek black car after a dinner meeting with a city planner named Ashton Crane, who is somehow connected to Horizon Realty. Step told his uncle not to work with Horizon; Andy gave them John Anacreon's business card, which had his cell number and direct email on it.

Meanwhile, Thomas and Lily played Gloomhaven late into the night. Lily apologized for her provoking questions about Thomas' work and philosophy, and the two had a candid discussion about their shared belief that humans should know the truth about the supernatural, regardless of consequences for the Divine.

On Sunday, Alexandra spent the morning with her family while the rest of the Woven Band plus Lily met for the Afternoon Delight Drag Brunch. Weave was not pleased to see Lily there, but Thomas was oblivious to the tension.

After the brunch and performances, the Ball's coronation was interrupted by one of the winning queens becoming infected by the same alien infection that mutated and enraged the Ahuizotl, and a fight breaking out over the crowns. In attempting to Sway the infected queen, Weave was infected herself and turned on Lily, manifesting a ghostly wolf to hunt Lily's cat form.

Thomas and Dee worked together to encage Weave, allowing Terpsichore to free her from the alien influence before she could kill Lily, at the cost of the Muse becoming infected herself. Once infected, Terpsichore summoned two of her siren daughters to charm everyone present into adoring worshippers as she attempted to secure greater divinity for herself.

Dee was able to resist the enthrallment and clear their friends' minds with their spellcasting. Weave magically throat punched a siren to stop her song; and despite failing in the attempt once, Step was able to disable the other siren's song with Thomas' encouragement. Dee took the opportunity to magically rip the alien fronds from their aunt, and Step helped Weave suck them into a portal.

Once the danger had passed, Thomas found the contaminated crown and stored it in a takeaway container. Step found Horizon Realty listed as a corporate sponsor, and brought up the idea of using Weave's blood to make a vaccine to the contaminant. Since St. Paul's was across the street, Lily suggested that the Woven Band visit Joyce Jacobs to get help with it. As Lily took her leave, Weave made a "don't fear the reaper" joke, and Lily said that she owed the Woven Band a favour for saving her from Weave's wrath.
