5 — Drinks & Dissemination
Over the course of the week, Alexandra made the decision to try putting her needs first for once, as her mother had encouraged her to, and move in with her Tío for her last two years of school. Weave's vision of Step's death was on her mind, so she kept them close and induced a vision to get an idea on how to keep them safe. Step also spent more time with Dee than usual, as they helped him develope his new invention; and during a study group with friends, Dee heard about an alleged Aztec prophecy that the world would end in December.
Thomas found himself investigating the same prophecy, and discovered an alliance between Conspiracy, Chalchiuhtlicue, and Poseidon that was connected to increased tectonic activity in the Pacific. He also received a letter that had been delivered to VPL, from his younger sibling Taylor—or "Ty"—reaching out to talk about the supernatural.
When the Woven Band met at the Spindle clubhouse on Friday, Thomas shared what he had learned regarding the triple threat alliance and the disastrous possibility of the divine using The Big One to further their goals. In an uncharacteristic move that delighted Weave, he suggested they spread rumours to take advantage of Poseidon's pride and disrupt the alliance.
Dee cast a spell to locate one of the Muses and got in touch with her Auntie Terpsichore, who was in Vancouver for a drag ball. Dee played her auntie like a harp and seeded the rumour with her to ensure it got around, and the Muse of Dance invited Dee and her friends to attend the drag event ongoing that weekend.
Lastly, Alexandra took advantage of everyone being together to request the Woven Band's help in saving hler family's apartment building. Asking for help from her friends was an emotional moment, but Alex kept it together and had a private cry later, and everyone brought their own ideas and resources to the table as they brainstormed ways to save the apartment building.
That night, Weave attended the "family BBQ" at Olympus, hosted by her own divine parent. Dionysus showed her the location of what could be her own domain, tempting her to stay and become divine. Weave said she wasn't done with mortality and that she had responsibilities on earth, including taking care of her mortal father, and Dionysus told her that he was proud of her.
On Saturday evening, Thomas and Lily Duval met for drinks at Elysium. Alexandra was working and Dee was visiting, so they both witnessed Weave's unravelling as Thomas unknowingly played into Lily's manicured hands. On Thomas' part, he was happy to see his friend after nearly a year, but had to ask to change the subject when Lily asked provoking questions about his reporting work.
After Lily and Thomas left together, Alexandra asked Weave if she was alright, but Weave wasn't ready to talk about it. Dee sipped their drink and stayed out of it as Weave scrubbed the lacquer off the bar and then went to the alley out back to vent her frustration on some glassware.
